Sarah Peck, Director of UnitedOnGuns, published an article on August 1st in ICMA where she details the importance of preparedness in the event of a mass shooting. Sarah’s article tackles three key points that the tragic shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde showed us:
- Law enforcement lacks active shooter training;
- Trauma centers may be too far away, or overwhelmed by casualties; and
- Most communities lack emergency plans for victims and families.
With growing concerns about mass shootings in our country — especially since the start of September — the need for effective preparedness strategies is becoming even more apparent.
